The Golconda Fort in Hyderabad was built in the year 1143 under the Kakatiya dynasty. After an unsuccessful attempt in the year 1686, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb finally succeeded in breaking this strong fort in 1687 after a long siege of nine months.
