Places To Visit In East India
East India is one of the most beautiful parts of India. East India combines the Seven Sister States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
This is a land of snow fed hills and lush green tea gardens. As comparatively less visited by tourists than the other Indian states, here you can relish a true vacation far from the madding crowd. Tourist numbers to the region have been dramatically increasing in recent years.
Tawang
There are beautiful peaks in the area, small villages, Tawang monasteries to magnificent gonpas, tranquil lakes and other places to attract its tourists. There is mixture of history, religion and mythology of these area. Tribals of Monpa caste belong from here. It is said that this caste belongs to the Mongols.
Gangtok
Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim. This is a beautiful hill state of Northeast India, attracts a large number of tourists every year. It was established in the year 1840s as a Buddhist pilgrimage site. After the end of British rule, it became the capital of an independent monarchy, but in 1975 it joined India.
Even today it remains a Tibetan Buddhist center. Here hikers have to get a permit from Sikkim Himalayan Mountain Ranges. It is considered as the most suitable place for trekking in the Himalayan mountain range. Notable Buddhist sites are the Rumtek monastery, home to rare artifacts belonging to the Karma Kagyu Order (also known as the “Black Hat”). Outdoor recreation in this area includes hiking, camping, mountaineering and white water rafting.
Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga National Park is located in the state of Assam, India. This park is included in UNESCO World HeritageP. articularly known for a horned rhinoceros (Indian Unicorn). According to census in March 2015, there were about 2,401 such rhinos in Kaziranga National Park. The park’s preserved and constant biodiversity makes it extremely special, due to many types of organisms in this park. This park is also called the home of the Indian tigers. The water park and forests of Kaziranga make this park extremely beautiful.
Guwahati
Guwahati is known for ancient Hindu temples, Guwahati is the main city of North-east India, situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. The peculiarity of the Shiva temple at Peacock Island is that it has been built with chisel edge and hand skills. The Pav Mecca Masjid here also has a special identity in the Muslim sect. It is believed that this mosque is as holy as a quarter of Mecca’s mosque. There is also a Hajo place associated with the belief of Buddhism, about which it is said that Lord Buddha attained nirvana.
Pelling
The next beautiful village of Sikkim, surrounded by beautiful mountains, Pelling can cast a spell to anyone. The panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains and the peaks of the mountains attract the tourists. Also, Pelling has rich history and culture. History and culture of Pelling make it the most important tourist destination of Sikkim after Gangtok. Once upon a time there were forests one, now it’s a fully developed village. It was situated between two Buddhist monasteries Pemayangaste and Sangacholing.
Lechung
Lechung is known as the most beautiful village in Sikkim. British stroller Joseph Dolton Hooker wrote about Lechung in book “the town in The Himalayan Journal” and was published in 1855. The Lechung Monastery situated on the top of the isolated hill holds special significance for Buddhist tourists. If you sit here for meditation,it is as if you forget yourself. Monastery of Nyingmapa Buddhists, located at an altitude of about 12 thousand feet, was established in 1806.
Shillong
The capital of Meghalaya, Shillong is called Scotland of India. This is the first such hill station in the country where you can go from all around. Shillong is named after a powerful deity U-Shyllong. In Shillong you can see the man-made Umium Lake, Elephant Waterfall, Shillong Peak and Mavalinan Village and many more.
Yamthang
Yamthang is situated in the north of Sikkim. Yamthang is also known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’. During the spring season, beautiful wild colorful flowers like roses and burruns bloom attract a lot of tourists.
Yuksom
Yuksom is the city of Sikkim which is known as Eco-Tourism Village. There are many interesting and religious places in Yukasom such as Rathong Chu River, Tibetan Buddhist Math, Dubdi Monastery, Kartok Monastery. Yuksom was the first capital of the Sikkim state of north-east India.
Cherrapunji
Cherrapunji is famous for the highest rainfall in the world, also has its own special identity. This area is also known to tourists by joining the question in general knowledge. This city of Meghalaya has Nohkalikai waterfall, definitely tourists can visit this place. Apart from this, there are many caves, some of which are several kilometers long. Cherrapunji is close to the Bangladesh border, so Bangladesh can also be seen from here.
